Job Title: Head 18U Fast Pitch Softball Coach
Department: Rough Rider Center / Watford City Park District
Position: Contract Salary Range: DOE – Starting $2,250.00
Supervisor: Recreation Manager

Summary: The Head 18U Fast Pitch Softball Coach is responsible to the Watford City Park District (WCPD) for developing and conducting the summer 2024 softball program in accordance with the policies of the WCPD and the American Legion Organization. The Head Coach is responsible for the total program. The coach supervises, coordinates, and evaluates the duties of all assistant coaches. The following responsibilities, in addition to the general description, make up the duties of the Head 18U Fast Pitch Softball Coach:

Responsibilities
•Hiring Assistant Coaches with approval of WCPD Recreation Manager.
•Tasked with developing game and practice schedule which is finalized and approved by WCPDRecreation Manager.
•Attend Post 29 meeting prior to start of the season and after the season to give a seasonoutlook and recap.
•Facilitate parent meeting prior to the start of the season.
•Work with WCPD staff to line up umpires for all home games.
•Work with WCPD staff to ensure volunteers are lined up for games.
•Responsible for keeping statistics and reporting scores.
•Conduct practices on non-game days and coach on all game days.
•Coordinate transportation with Recreation Manager.
•Take lead on optional team banquet and season awards.
•Have prominent role in the planning and operations of any 18U level softball tournament.
•Has final decision on roster.
•Determines tournament rosters.
•Takes lead on disciplinary measures and team dismissals.
•Attend meetings set up by the Recreation Manager throughout the season.
•Responsible for proper care of uniforms, supplies, and equipment.
o This means an inventory of jerseys
o Gathering and returning all jerseys
•Get approval from Recreation Manager on all purchases.
•Team may be asked to fundraise; this will be put on the head coach to push and execute.

Requirements
•Valid driver’s license.
•Background check.
•All Legion required coaching courses.
•Effective organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
•Evidence of superior written and oral communication skills.
•Demonstrated leadership within groups.
•Ability to manage multiple tasks with a variety of groups to include staff, volunteers, and media.
•Requires the ability to set and achieve goals through effective decision-making.
•Ability to lift a minimum of 30 pounds.
•Communicate effectively to establish and maintain working relationships with the public and other employees.
•Assist in driving the team to games with the use of WCPD provided transportation.
•Ability to assist with field maintenance when needed.
•Ability to lead a practice.
